I don't have a 220 volt plug. I searched around only wanting to spend $90 or maybe $150. Well after reading and reviewing many many welders, I knew I needed to buy one that was a bit better. I ran across this one, and it all sounded good to me. I did about a week more of checking around, and then decided to go for it. I was wondering how they were going to ship a welder, but sure enough they delivered it very quickly. I was excited to open it up... and feeding the wire in it was not as difficult as I would have imagined. It just takes a little brain power. Setting the tension took me about 8 minutes, and I adjusted it pretty accurately the first go around. The time came to weld. I was expecting a little arch and I was expecting it to sputter. Boy was I in for a surprise. It welded almost the freaking same as my fathers hobart 220 volt $800 welder! I was astonished. I was blown away. I welded and welded, and then I expected it to heat up. I was welding 1/4 steel flat iron (making window security bars) and I had read another reviewer that said it heats up easily... well I never had it overheat. I live in florida, and it was during the day, around 91 degrees September day in the sun.... with high humidity, so Im not sure how far the other reviewer PUSHED his welder, but it met and SHATTERED my expectations... especially from a 110 or 115 volt welder. WOW. I can't say enough great things about this little guy... Now all I can think about is all the home projects I want to do around the house! I plan on making more security bars, and making latches for gates,... I will tell you that I finsihed about 25 bars before I ran out of the origianl sample spool that is includsed with the welder. If I had it to do over again I would have just ordered the extra twin pack of like 4 pounds of flux core wire in addition to the welder... so I could have kept welding straight through.... I also use the hobart dip for the nozzle,... wow... I love talking about the welder. I even took a picture of it and put it as my desktop background. OKay that one was a joke, but the rest of it is completely true. Please somebody ask me a question about the welder... If you have the money, and want a standard house volt welder, what the heak are you waiting for? Oh, and some peeps like to get the gas welding kit with it... well I don't ever plan on using the gas kit, so flux core works perfect for me ust the way it is.
